These square pieces of asbestos were heavily used for the walls and ceilings that were near machinery producing heat on a constant basis like stoves or furnaces. These insulation sheets were primarily made of asbestos fibers, vegetable binders, and other fire resistant compounds.

Once installed and left undisturbed, the asbestos millboard stopped posing any threat, but trying to remove it by cutting it or damaging it in any shape or form, the worker was unknowingly subjected to asbestos exposure. You could have been exposed if:

  • You found yourself working in old structures
  • You helped install or remove asbestos millboard
  • You performed demolition work
  • You did remodeling work in old buildings
  • You entered in contact with the clothes or the gear covered in asbestos dust
