A.P. Green Industries
The company got its start in 1910 in Mexico, Missouri, as a brick and clay making plant. The business grew at a fast pace, in five years doubling its net worth. In a short time, A.P. Green bought a larger plant and became a producer of refractory products selling and distributing them internationally. From the 1940s until the 1970s, A.P. Green manufactured a variety of products using the poisonous mineral known as asbestos. Due to their use in high heat applications, boiler workers and steamfitters were the most affected by asbestos exposure.
