PRODUCT USE
This insulation product was made from asbestos fabric or woven glass fiber fabric and lined with asbestos. Its main purpose was preventing heat from damaging the machinery used in factories or power plants.
The asbestos exposure happened when the fabric got frayed or the asbestos blanket got torn open. Even in the manufacturing process, microscopic particles became airborne as the asbestos fibers would get woven. You could have been exposed if:
- You handled asbestos blankets on a constant basis
- You were involved in the manufacturing of asbestos blankets
- You found yourself working in old factories or plants
- You performed maintenance work on boilers
