PRODUCT USE
Due to the fact that continuous heat was passing on a constant basis through the valves of machineries, a solution had to be found in order to strengthen these parts. Up until the 1970’s, asbestos was seen as a low cost solution and it started being included in the lining of valves.
In the case of asbestos lined valves it was very probable for asbestos particles to break off due to the flow of high pressure steam and extreme heat. You could have been exposed if:
- You found yourself working on old factory machineries and their piping systems
- You have worked on cars built before the 1980’s
- You worked directly with asbestos valves
- You performed maintenance work in factories or power plants
- You helped manufacture asbestos lined valves
