I didn’t know anything about asbestos exposure until I started reading about it and I began the research because I knew I had probably been exposed to asbestos on the job. I worked in a millwright until 1964 for the U.S. Steel company based in Fairfield, Alabama. Then I worked as a stockroom attendant for three years for Baggett Transportation and as a laborer for the Baggett Transportation company until 72’. All these jobs posed high risks of exposure because asbestos was present everywhere in our plants back in the 60’, 70’s and earlier.
After I retired, I started feeling discomfort in my right side and I went to the doctor and had X-rays. Then I got diagnosed in 2014 with asbestosis and I must admit that the news was hard to take at first. My mistake was that I waited too long until I decided to go for a check-up.
After I got diagnosed, I decided to seek legal assistance hoping that I would recover a compensation for my illness. So, I came to Environmental Litigation Group and they’ve proved very helpful. They were ready to support me and offered me different solutions, they helped me get through all those meetings and hearings. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know what me and my family would have done, they’ve been a great help.
