Unarco
Workers Exposed to Asbestos
This company was first known as the Union Asbestos and Rubber Company when it was founded in 1941 in the state of New Jersey. It started as a manufacturer of insulation materials made with asbestos. The company moved its headquarters to Illinois in 1954, and in 1955, it purchased the Folding Carrier Corporation, a producer of shopping carts, following a name change to Unarco. From the very start, Unarco used asbestos in its products and posed great risks for the people working for the company and for the people using these materials on a day-to-day basis.
